High-Growth Environmental Consulting Firm Outsources Data Centre to Q9
High cost of downtime, reliable power & cooling requirements prompt move

(TSX:Q), a leading Canadian provider of outsourced data centre infrastructure for organizations with mission-critical IT operations, is pleased to announce that Matrix Solutions Inc., a high-growth environmental and engineering consulting firm headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, has outsourced its data centre requirements to Q9 in a comprehensive infrastructure deal.
Providing services such as environmental impact assessments, site assessment and reclamation, monitoring and remediation of contaminated groundwater and soils and river engineering, Matrix operates from six offices in Alberta and British Columbia. It has experienced rapid growth, doubling its headcount to approximately 180 employees over the last two years. With more than 500 clients and 2,000 projects currently underway, its data storage requirements have also increased exponentially.
When Matrix recently went from a single server with 500 gigabytes of storage to a blade server array with three terabytes of storage, the company determined that its existing data centre infrastructure was not capable of supporting the additional load and turned to Q9 for a solution.
